What are Pre-Allocations?

Pre-allocations let you set royalty splits for each track ahead of time, saving you from re-entering the same info every time you receive royalties or apply expenses. Label Engine will automatically apply these splits when it finds a match by track name, ISRC, or release name. If a match isn’t found, you can quickly search for and apply existing pre-allocations.

This makes the allocation process faster and more accurate. You can even set different pre-allocations by vendor or territory, if needed.

How to Set Pre-Allocations

  1. On the main Distribute Track page, select ‘Accounts’ in the drop down.

  1. When you click ‘Pre-Allocations’, you can view the default split.

  1. In the following section, you are able to edit the default split, create a new one, or apply an existing split.

Guidelines for Setting Pre-Allocations

Singles

  • Profit-share: Assign the agreed percentage to the artist’s contract account.

  • Flat fee: Set the artist’s percentage to 0%. Enter their fee as an expense.

  • No expense recoup: Assign the artist percentage directly, no contract account needed.

Remixes

  • Flat fee: Set remixer to 0%. Enter the remix fee as an expense.

  • Percentage deal: Assign the agreed percentage to a contract account.

Re-releases & Remixes

  • Use the same contract accounts and percentages as the original.

Licensed Tracks

  • Set artists/remixers to 0%. Assign the licensing company their percentage via a contract account. More information on covers can be found here.
